DES Advanced Academy
The Arizona Child Welfare Advanced Training Academy, in partnership with the DES Division of Children, Youth and Families, provides training to DCYF staff and supervisors in the areas of leadership skills, data utilization, decision making, and Secondary Trauma Training.

Partners: DES/DCYF and ASU School of Social Work, College of Public Programs.
Program Description: The Arizona Child Welfare Program collaborates with DCYF to work towards increasing the knowledge and skills of DCYF personnel in the areas of leadership, managing secondary trauma, clinical supervision and utilizing data to inform practice and decision making. The program includes the provision of Secondary Trauma Training for DCYF supervisors and managers; provision of skill building and competency based trainings for managers in the areas of supervision skills, and using data to inform and drive effective practice; the design and launch of a professional development leadership program for up to 15 DCYF managers, and completion of a comprehensive needs assessment and development of a training webinar provided to DCYF management. The topic for the webinar will be determined in consultation with DCYF as indicated by the needs assessment.
CABHP's Role: The Center will serve as the coordinating center on behalf of the ASU School of Social Work and the ASU College of Public Programs. The Center will collaborate with the Arizona Department of Economic Security/Division of Children, Youth and Families when delivering identified training, and to identify future training needs. The Center will provide DCYF with a semi-annual report of training activities.
