Research Specialists Nicole Janich and Isabel Garcia attended the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting and Expo on October 29th through November 2nd in Denver, Colorado. They presented research posters showcasing important findings from three of the Center’s projects.
Isabel presented (pictured above) results from the 5-year evaluation of Stand Together and Recover, Inc (S.T.A.R.), a non-profit organization in Maricopa County that provides non-clinical peer support services to adults with severe mental illness. Isabel also presented on the Peer and Family Career Academy (PFCA), a workforce development initiative designed to advance the careers and educational attainment of certified peer recovery support specialists in Arizona.
Nicole presented (pictured below) on a needs assessment of health care integration in 9 distinct communities within Health Choice Integrated Care (HCIC). These three posters contributed to the myriad of research revolving around the Meeting theme—Creating the Healthiest Nation: Ensuring the Right to Health. Isabel and Nicole look forward to submitting their research / evaluation findings for publication in the upcoming year, as well as continuing to present at professional conferences to promote the Center’s work.
