When newly mandated health care policies are implemented state-wide, how do behavioral health agencies adapt and move toward new models of care coordination, especially those in rural regions?
Recently, the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy’s senior researcher, Nicole Janich, who earned her PhD in social work, and ASU Professor Michael Shafer, who earned his PhD in Education, took a look at this issue and published an article in the Journal of Social Work.
The study reviews the type of challenges these agencies face, such as; financial concerns, regulation, role clarification, information sharing, staff training and more, identifying several areas that threaten new policy implementation.
